Word from the East Q2 2010
Brethren,
My year in the East is passing by with a speed that I never would have imagined.  As I write this address the year is 1/6 over, and by the time you read this it will be ¼ over.  We have done some good work in these brief few months.  We have 10 candidates currently going through the degrees or preparing to go through the degrees.  We are becoming strong.  I see the desire in the eyes of the Brothers and Candidates who want to help more, to learn more, and to make more out of themselves.  They have come to understand that the Masonic Fraternity is a place where all of those objectives can be realized and Center Lodge is on a path to become the Benchmark for the Masonic Fraternity in Connecticut.
But Brothers there is much more to do.  We set up Committees to perform various functions in the Lodge from Charitable Works to Civic Awareness to Fraternal Relations and Visitations.  We have made very good progress in some areas and none in others.  In previous communications I stated that I was challenging Brothers to step up and lead by their example and not wait to be asked by the Master to do something.  We need more of this initiative.  I will not run your Committees!  But I will always be available to come to meetings, advise, guide, or do whatever you need me to do to be successful.  One fourth of the year is gone.  We cannot work on the improvement of our Lodge two days a month.  This needs to be a continuous process.
I now put the call out to the older Brothers.  Those who have done their time and now because of age or illness are no longer able to attend meetings or get out.  I ask of you, what can Center Lodge do for you?  What can we do to repay you for your years of service to the Fraternity?  Do you need help on a project around the house?  Do you need transportation for errands?  Do you just want a brother to come over and play cards or sit with you?  The problem I have when I look at the membership of Center Lodge is I don’t know what everyone needs or wants.  You have to tell me.  My email is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and my phone number is 203-215-8273.  I want you to call me let me know what we can do for you.  We can and will help.
So let us refocus our sites on the next three months.  Review the activities we are planning and participate as much as possible.  Come to me with ideas, suggestions, or complaints.  The only way to make something better is by forging straight ahead and addressing all desires and problems.
